Introducing Jack and Jill

Introducing Jack and Jill

Jack & Jill used.JPG

I don't know what I loved more about these two fabulous Heydayers. The fact that they're such glamorous twins. The fact that they're an unbelievable 71. Or the fact that they're called Jack (on the left of the pic) and Jill! (Well, Jackie actually but who's quibbling). Whatever, they were an absolute delight to meet and chat to at the Henley Handmade Fair at Stonor Park.

Jill: I went to art school and I’ve always painted and drawn but I didn’t know anything about how to decorate eggs. I just saw some at a show and thought I could do better! I’m completely self-taught, and even though I’ve been doing it for 40 years, no two eggs I make are ever the same.
I do the making and Jackie does the selling. I don’t mind selling them, but I’m not very good at it. I was useless until she joined me! When she started with me she said, “How have you managed before now?”

Jackie: I was a motorcycle dealer with my father for 30 years and then he passed away and I worked on the business for another 5 years. I reckoned if I could sell a £4000 BMW I could probably sell a £40 egg.

We've never had an argument in our lives

Jill and I have always been close. We’ve never had an argument in our lives. We live 9 miles away from each other and we have no family commitments, we’re on our own, so we see each other often. We travel from show to show in our caravan with Mabel, the cat. We love our caravan. We used to have three dogs, but not any more."
